Thu Apr 06, 2006What?! A Windows Friendly Macintosh?
I was casually browsing one of the Mac news sites, and there it was, kind of nonchalant, a headline about Apple introducing new software called Boot Camp that can run Windows XP natively on an Intel Mac.
What?!
Pretty sneaky. And downright brilliant.
Yes, I know there will be tons of "trojan horse" references, but you have to admit, it fits. And talk about timing, Apple's got it. Microsoft announces this week that their software is delayed again, and then Apple comes along and says that's ok, we'll take your existing Windows XP and run it faster on a Mac. Let us know when you have the next version ready and we'll run it faster on a Mac too.
Of course, Gates doesn't mind since he'll still be selling his outdated and buggy software to both PC and Mac owners. But you have to wonder what's going through the minds of the suits at HP, Dell, Gateway and other PC makers.
Maybe they're out buying Apple stock right now.
